Aussies renew interest in residential VoIP

Following several years of slow VoIP adoption, residential Australia is now taking an increased interest in VoIP services, according to IDC.

The firm reports observing an increase in residential VoIP subscription  rates over the last 6 – 12 months.

This is thanks to the bundling of broadband and VoIP, IDC said, as well as the recent offering of Naked DSL services.

On top of this, several factors standing in the way of consumer adoption have recently been removed, IDC said, including:

  • broadband speeds
  • expensive broadband plans
  • low quality of service
  • number portability
  • VoIP complexity
