A truly functional software tool for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) market must not only provide functionality for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning, but must allow information to flow easily back and forth between these different disciplines so that risk can be managed dynamically as the project progresses.
Managing the resulting risk is a top priority as the project is bid, planned, executed and what is hopefully a successful conclusion.
This very demanding business model is one reason that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) should be appealing to EPCI contractors, as it will provide visibility into the supply chain, the live cost of going projects and a lot easier to limit risk.
